December time did inspire people in Dutch town Oldenzaal to show their true colors. Here you read three different stories of how much influence one town has on South African sports development for 2014.
TCC de Thij – Marathon
PE teachers at high school Twents Carmel College – De Thij, organized a Soccer and Volleyball marathon on 19 December 2013. A big group of enthusiastic learners played different teams from inside and outside the school for many hours. By doing so they raised money that would end up being donated to Mavu. Playing sports to enable South Africans, who otherwise can’t, to play too. www.tccdethij.nl
AB4Support – Adopts a School Competition
Business owner Antoinette Benneker celebrates the 10 year anniversary of AB4 Support, a business that supports organizations with its administration, events and management. For this special occasion she was looking for a special cause to support. Mavu is so honored that they are the one cause she chose. Antoinette adopted a school competition. Later on this year she will visit the project with her husband and teenage son. http://www.ab4support.nl/goed-doel.html
De Missietent – Fair
During September kids enjoy attractions, sweets and gambling at the main annual fair. And one stand people usually never pass without participating. The missietent is a place where people buy tickets and can win prices, of which are donated by local businesses. The money raised is divided over several causes, and South African School children are happy to be one of them. The funds will go to the introduction of school sport at several rural schools in Limpopo.
