MAVU is founded in 2011.

2011

Developing of the Mavu concept and administration

2012

April – Workshops for school sport coordinators in Vhembe district

June – First Board meeting

July – Workshops for volunteers in sport coaches

August – Mavu managed to support Cindy Leigh Meyer to go to Canada where she is offered a full bursary and plays for the first soccer team.

November – Through mavu’s support Bodybuilder Bhekumuzi Maluleke becomes 7 of the world in his category @ IBFF world champs Hungary

December – Tshakhuma Holiday Tournament. A 6-day community tournament with over 400 participants and more than 2000 daily spectators.

2013

March – Fundraising event in Sandton

April – Passing on of Victor Ravhuanzwo, mavu’s first chairperson of the Board of Directors

November/December – Growing Tshakhuma Holiday Community Tournament

2014

Muzi Maluleke SA’s heavyweight junior Bodybuiling Champion, and 13the of the world. Mavu facilitated a sponsorship deal with the Harvest Group.

First workshops in Masia. a train the trainers program conducted three times this year with a  massive school tournament as a result.

First volunteer from abroad for Mavu. Jan Sommer shares his expertise in Masia for three months.

Third consecutive Tshakhuma Holiday Tournament.

2015

Kick off of project: Capacity Building in Arts and Sports. In partnership with the Cultural Development Trust and funded by the Royal Netherlands Embassy. This project will run up to end of 2016.

Fourth Tshakhuma Holiday Tournament. First time entirely organised and run by the community.

Signed partnership with National Lotteries Commission

Partnership with initiative Kicks4Africa. An effect of a site visit of donor AB4Support.
